I like to go to the middle of nowhere. You know? That place where time has no teeth and where the voices echo in your head every day are silent. The middle of no where is out in the middle of the Everglades where the snakes and the alligators live and in the center of the state of Florida, amidst the endless pastures where cattle as far as the eye can see graze lazily as a deer moves across the scenery. I like to get lost and not be found by the shadows that are pursuing me; forgetting why I am here and what it is that I have to do.
My favorite place is listening to Mozart’s adagio from his piano concerto no. 23 in A major K. 488. You know the piece that starts off with a simple melody with no accompaniment and then melts into a chorus of wind instruments and strings. The pain so vivid that you could cut it with a knife and a longing for a tranquil place to be where the problems, the trials and tribulations of this world can’t possibly touch you because it is wrapped ever so tightly in a neat little box. There beyond the imaginary fairies that seemingly fly into your imagination, you can forget that you are nothing.
This prompt got me thinking about how I could meld the direction with the themes that I try to write about. I hope you like it!
